Old Is Beautiful
Not Just Less Horrible
Not Just Less Horrible

Men in discussion

Let’s focus the effort to unfold a campaign to change people’s minds about ‘old is bad.’ We don't have to be ashamed about the inevitable fact that we are aging.

A Tribe Called Aging and the
Institute Of Noetic Sciences (IONS)

1. Every two months, the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) presents an interactive online webinar called Global Gathering. This month, A Tribe Called Aging is presenting the next IONS Global Gathering, welcoming hundreds of participants from around the world. You can experience this free ‘Taste of Conscious Aging’ interactive experience on Thursday, April 18, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm CDT. To register, go to noetic.org/experience/noetic-global-gatherings.

2. This Global Gathering will be followed by the initial roll-out of a new 6-week online IONS Conscious Aging Workshops program. A Tribe Called Aging has been leading this project for IONS for the past three months. For the first time people will be able to join IONS Conscious Aging Workshops online, and the first session is set to premier on May 2. Go to noetic.org for more information.

3. A Tribe Called Aging is presenting a breakout session at the IONS 18th International Conference. The Conference, titled The Possibility Accelerator: Creating Our Future, Now, will be held in Santa Clara, CA July 18 to 21, 2019. The 75-minute breakout session is Toward A New Vision of Aging. Go to noetic.org for more information.

Wabi-sabi

Wabi-sabi is the Japanese aesthetic that appreciates the beauty and inevitability of impermanence and imperfection.

It is an honest acceptance of the way things really are.

The beauty of a wooden bannister worn smooth by many hands.

Greatness lies in the minor and the hidden, in the subtle and evanescent, in the rough, flawed and muddy.

Wabi-sabi is a bittersweet poignancy, as we realize that all things crumble, including us and our universe.
